An old manganese mine from the Civil War preserves the production

Clos Berenguer is a family-owned winery located in the heart of Priorat, along the T-734 road between El Molar and Bellmunt del Priorat. Founded as a tribute to the parents of owner Francesc Berengué Recasens, the project was born out of a deep passion for the land and wine. The winery exclusively produces wines from its own vineyards, purely and harmoniously reflecting the mineral essence characteristic of the D.O.Q. Priorat.

The estate has 25 hectares of vineyards planted on slate and limestone soils, oriented east to west, which bring complexity and diversity to its wines.

Clos Berenguer makes an impression the moment you take the turn off the main road. The winery is built over an old manganese mine, whose tunnels have been restored to store barrels and bottles, providing a unique setting for aging the wines. During the Spanish Civil War, the mine was exploited to produce raw materials for armaments sent to the German troops.

About 90% of their production is exported around the world — to the United States, Russia, Switzerland, Finland, and even China.
