It all started with the Osborne family

Where Montsant and Priorat meet, the majestic Cal Grau winery rises. An impressive chΓ’teau-style entrance, surrounded by vineyards and a breathtaking landscape that captivates at first sight. Built in 2000 by the Osborne family, it began a new chapter in 2022 under the direction of Bodegas Iberian, a group with wineries also in Ribera del Duero, DO Toro, and DOCa Rioja.

But the true star here is Priorat wine: a wine with a soul of its own, shaped by a tough land rich in slate, with scarce rainfall, rugged terrain, and poor soils that force the vine to fight for every drop of life.

The result?

Limited production, but of extraordinary complexity, overflowing with character and undeniable body. At Cal Grau, annual production does not exceed 90,000 bottles: most head to the United States, but the domestic market is also nurtured with dedication.

Located on the 40-hectare Les Solanes estate, the winery boasts 22 hectares of meticulously cared-for vineyards under the expert eye of winemaker Fran Vernet. The terraces, preserved in their natural slope, are home to Garnacha and CariΓ±ena, as well as Syrah, Cabernet, and a touch of Merlot. Every orientation, every ray of sunlight, and every degree of heat shapes a unique ripening rhythm for each plot. The climate and soil make this corner a privileged spot where the pure essence of Priorat reveals itself in all its intensity.
